Chester – or the Roman city of Deva - was founded in 79 A.D. It is an historical gem, located on England’s border with North Wales, just under 200 miles from London.

The city is still fully encircled by Roman and medieval walls and it also boasts the remains of a Roman amphitheatre, a Norman cathedral and two tiered galleries of shops - called the Rows.

The city retains a 2,000 year old rectilinear street pattern, with its main thoroughfares pointing north, south, east and west. Gates enable passage through the walls – these include the Bridgegate, Watergate, Northgate and Eastgate.
