Set in the Western Lake District, Muncaster Castle has been home to the Pennington family for 800 years. It was also home to Tom Skelton (or Tom Fool), the court jester in the 16th century - and there are many ghost stories to be told involving him and other former residents of the castle.

Each year Muncaster hosts the Festival of Fools, involving a host of jesters, clowns and other entertainers.
