Delamere Forest
Cheshire’s Delamere Forest is its largest area of woodland and is a vestige of the great forest of Mara and Mondrum which once covered a large part of the county. Named by the Normans ‘Forest of the Meres’, Delamere now covers some 950 hectares. It comprises deciduous and evergreen woods, open grassland and areas of wetland – and is a haven for wildlife. It is also very popular with visitors who enjoy its recreational routes, viewpoints, café, shop and picnic areas.
